Two founders, one leather workshop in Bab El-Sharia, and a quiet bet that Cairo wanted its coffee slow.
The cup that started it.
In the summer of 2019 we drank a cold brew at a Brooklyn café and couldn't find anything like it back home. Not at chain coffee shops, not at the specialty cafés that were starting to open in Maadi and Zamalek. So we tried to make it ourselves.
Eight months of tuning a roast.
We worked with a roaster in 10th of Ramadan City to dial in a grind and a roast profile that matched what we'd tasted abroad. Medium-dark, cold-water-specific. After 32 batches we had a cup that held against ice and milk without losing its chocolate.

We didn't want our kit to feel like one more disposable thing on the kitchen counter. So we found a leather workshop in Bab El-Sharia that's been stitching saddles for three generations, and asked them to make us bottle covers — brass-buckled, hand-stitched, real leather.
Three hundred kits, five years in.
We're not yet a big company. We're a kit, a coffee pack, and two founders who personally pack every order. Three hundred Egyptian customers have bought from us since 2020. We're working slowly toward thirty thousand.
What we won't compromise on

Real materials, no shortcuts.
Real leather. Real glass. Real Egyptian coffee. We don't ship synthetic anything. If it can't last a decade on your kitchen counter, we don't sell it.
Cairo first, world later.
We don't dilute the product for an international audience yet. Our kits are designed for the Cairo morning, the Sahel summer afternoon, the 38°C August day. Once we're great here, we'll travel.
Slow is the brand.
Cold brew is a 12-hour drink. We sell the patience as much as the coffee. If you want speed, the kettle is still in the cabinet.
I wanted Cairo to have its own slow morning. Not a coffee chain's version of slow — ours. Hand-stitched, dark-roasted, twelve hours in the fridge, smooth in the morning.
